I was originally going to do challenge 9 and 10 in one post, but then my answer for #10 became loooong so I decided to split them up. :D

Challenge #9
In your own space, promote at least one canon that you adore (old, new, forever fandom).

I deliberated for this a while - there's so much canon I love, so many fandoms and moments I have collected like little trinkets, but I think this time I am going to have to throw some love at the Good Omens TV adaptation.

I'd read the book years ago, and although I loved it, it never quite inspired me to go search out fandom for it (that's not atypical though, I very rarely engage with book fandoms), but I completely fell in love with the show. I think much of it was because it's the kind of show I needed right now. It's funny and silly but it's also hopeful and gentle and undeniably romantic. With the state of the world being what it is at the moment, it's just nice to have a show that let's you escape that for several hours (despite the fact that it is about the apocalypse!).

I had kind of fallen out of love with fandom by the start of last year, and Good Omens made me fall solidly in love again. Both with the show and that particular fandom, but also with fandom on a larger scale - reminding me how fun it is when fandom is positive and creative (the sheer amount of fanworks that has been made for the show is astounding!), and giving me a fandom I really loved, connected with and thrived in again (I've been short on those for a few years). It's also a huge help that especially Michael and Neil are so accepting of fandom and ready to validate fanworks and the fact that all headcanons are valid.

I could wax lyrical about this for longer but a) I'm kind of brain tired because I have a headcold and b) I want to catch up with this challenge today.

Oh, on the subject of favourite canons, let me jump over to The Witcher for a moment. Because I just watched this interview with Joey Batey, and since I have had Toss a Coin to Your Witcher stuck in my head ever since I watched that damn show, I felt vindicated when I learned that he had that song stuck in his head for 8 months

(Also I love the answer he gives to the question about fans discussing every aspect of the show in forums, where he says "the funnest part of this kind of fandom is tearing it apart, surely" because yes, he gets it.)

Yes, this! And the Good Omens fandom is certainly prolific. So much amazing fanart!

Hee, love that about the song stuck in his head!

Good Omens fandom is just having a Really Good Time, and I'm appreciating the outpouring of joy, even though I'm mostly in it for show canon. It just seems really positive and fun <3
