Challenge #4
In your own space, create some goals. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Ohhhh goals. I do have a few goals I've set myself for this year, so it'll be good to write them down for some accountability!
Fannish Goals:
1. Post at least 5 fics. Last year was a bad, bad year writing-wise for me. I posted a grand total of two fics, one of which was a 100 word drabble, and I didn't write much more than that. And it's not been good for me because I like writing, and not writing makes me stress about how I want to write, which makes it even harder to actually write. So, 5 fics seems like an attainable goal - more than last year without being overwhelming - and if I post more than that then yay. Ideally, I'll get some of the WIPs in my drafts done so I can post.
2. Make some icons. I think I had this as a goal last year too, maybe? Idk. But I still want to get back into icon making for fun so I want to try to make some this year, at the very least practice even if I don't make anything I want to share.
3. Consume and feedback more podfic. I usually zone out too quickly to listen to podfic or audio books but lately I've found that I can focus on it pretty good while crocheting! So I want to throw some more love at podficcers this year.
4. Be more active in fandom. I turned into a hermit last year, both irl and online. And it's made me feel so disconnected. I seriously miss flailing with people and talking about fic and I think one of the reasons I barely wrote anything last year is I had no one to flail and talk about my ideas with.
Non-Fannish Goals:
1. Learn to knit. Was this one of my goals last year, too? I don't remember. I tried last year. I almost have the hang of it now. I really want to learn to knit my own cosy socks. :)
2. Finish wedding present for my sister. I just started crocheting a Sophie's Dream blanket for a wedding present for my sister, who is hopefully getting married sometime this year (once we can come out of lockdown and travel again). So, for some accountability I am putting it here that I need to work on it during the next few months and not try to do the whole blanket the last week. I know myself and my tendency to do everything last minute. >.>
3. Exercise more. I was so, so bad at exercising last year and it has not been good for my fibro to sit still so much. For now I do a stretching/meditation program in the morning that has helped, so I want to keep that up and maybe go for more walks once it stops being so icy outside.
4. Sew some clothes. My husband bought me a pricey sewing machine almost 2 years ago cause I said I wanted to sew clothes and maybe do some quilting and I can count on one hand the number of times I have used it since then. Making mew feel super guilty! (Luckily hubby knows I will get around to doing my hobbies eventually once I have the needed material and tools lol). My sister got me a gift voucher at a fabric store last week and I just ordered some lovely navy sweatshirt fabric with rainbow glitter thread that I want to use for a sweatshirt dress (I have a beginners pattern for one) so once that arrives I really want to actually use it!
That's about it. It doesn't feel too overwhelming so hopefully I will get at least most of it done. Oh and I guess I could have made a goal for completing all the Snowflake challenges - because I want to do that, too. ^^
