Snowflake Challenge 2018: Day 1

Day 1

In your own space, talk about why you're participating in Snowflake and, if you’ve participated in the past, how the challenge has affected you. What drew you to it? What did you take away from it? What do you hope to accomplish this year? 

I was introduced to Snowflake by a friend in 2014, and had lots of fun so I've kept coming back to participate (with the exception of last year, when there was just too much rl stuff using up all my spoons, but I did lurk to read other people's posts!). I love how it celebrates fandom as a community, and in past years it has both helped me find new things I might not have found otherwise, and re-connected me with old favourites. 

Also, my anxiety tends to rathet post-holidays, and my instinct is to pull away from interacting with new people (and sometimes people I am good friends with, too) - even if that's not a good way for me to deal with it. Throughout the past few years, the Snowflake community has been nothing but kind and welcoming, and the challenge itself has provided a fun, low-pressure way to connect with people outside my little circle. 

So excited to be participating again!
