Challenge #2
In your own space, set some goals for the coming year. They can be fannish or not, public or private.
Let's start this post off by revisiting last years goals so I can give myself a little pat on the back for what I achieved!
Last Year's Fannish Goals
Post at least 5 fics: Did it! I posted 6 fics last year. I also started writing 4 longfics, 2 of which are almost finished, so I have written quite a bit that I haven't posted, too.
Make some icons: I haven't finished any icons I'm happy with, but I did dig up some tutorials and refamiliarize myself with picture editing software (and download like a bazillion fonts and textures, I hear that's import to the process :P), so I'm counting this as partly done.
Consume and feedback more podfic: Nope. I might just have to accept that podfic is not something my brain can focus on. Shelving this one for a bit.
Be more active in fandom: I took some steps towards this by joining and actually interacting in a couple of active fannish discords! I'm really enjoying discord for fannish interaction. (If anyone has server recs feel free to let me know. ^^ So far the ones that stuck have been two Teen Wolf servers and the 30+ Fanfic one, I'd quite like a Witcher server but haven't found a good fit... I'd also love a crafty/crochet server, I haven't found one that felt right yet.) I also participated in a fic exchange for the first time in 10+ years!
Last Year's Non-Fannish Goals
Learn to knit: Did it! Just about lol, I doubled down on this goal at the end of November, bought some fancy new knitting needles, and I am in the process of knitting my first scarf! (It's for my son, who wanted Mickey Mouse colours. ^^)

Exercise more: Did it! I did go for walks outside for a couple of weeks but it didn't really work for me, what did end up working was walk-at-home/dance party workout videos. I do give myself plenty of rest-days and most days I do 10-20 min videos so I'm not going crazy with it, but I definitely feel better (and stronger) for moving more.
Sew some clothes: Did it! So far I've made a sweater-dress for myself and an Among Us sweater for my son.

Woot, several pats on the back for me! I feel so much better about setting goals for this year when I see the fruits of last year's goal-setting. ^^
This Year's Fannish Goals
Post 12 Fics: I don't seem to do well with word-count goals, but a finished fic count goal worked last year so let's double my output this year! A fic a month should be more than doable, especially since I already have half those fics part-written and also have 4 fics to write for upcoming events.
Make some icons: I did the groundwork last year so... let's actually finish some icons this year. ^^ I'm starting to find it difficult to fine the kind of icons I want for DW so this is a goal that will definitely benefit me.
Comment on every fic I read: I admit, I have been lazy about commenting... part of this was my dislike of typing on my phone combined with reading fic on my phone. But! I got a laptop in October so I can read fic there instead, and have no excuse now. It makes me sad that there seems to be less comments going around these days, so I guess I gotta be the change I want to see and all that. :)
This Year's Non-Fannish Goals
Read 6 books: I have struggled to read books for years and just sort of accepted it, but I really miss curling up with a book so I really want to make a change. I have some books lined up and I made a Goodreads account and am really hoping to finish a book every second month this year. (I read a book and a half in 2021, so at least I made a small start...)
Play a board-game at least once a month: This is one of the hobbies me and my husband have in common so I really want to get better about doing it because last year we didn't get a lot of it done. I feel especially bad about it because we got Azul & Sushi Go! for Christmas from my sister & her fiancé in 2020 and I bought Calico as a birthday present for my husband and I haven't played any of them yet. (I've also supported Flamecraft on Kickstarter sooo I have another new game coming sometime this year). Kind of made a headstart on this since my son got the Minecraft boardgame for Christmas and I am definitely counting that!
Finish a knitting project: I am going to put this on here because I am finding basic knitting kind of boring and keep not doing the scarf in favour of more advanced crochet patterns, so I need to give myself some accountability here!
Finish at least 2 games on Steam: I have a terrible, terrible habit of buying games when they're on sale and then never playing through the whole game. I have so many games I'd like to actually complete so I'm giving myself a very small goal to hopefully get me started on playing some games I already have instead of buying new ones (or replaying old ones that I actually have completed....)
That's about it! I'm being a little more ambitious this year because I found last year that I don't feel like I failed if I don't meet them, it serves more to make me think about what I actually did achieve, whereas I tend to focus on things I didn't get done without them, so this has been a really good exercise for me!

Date: 2022-01-04 10:15 pm (UTC)I'm impressed with myself tbh, I felt like I hadn't got a whole lot done this year, so it was nice to go back and find that I actually did most of the things I wanted to get done!
