Well I'm not sure that they still have a fulltime stylist? Though I guess for shows and stuff they most likely do. But like on the walks and stuff I'm sure they dress themselves (and actually, Tay looks good on most walk pics) - same when they're just lounging in the studio.

I really can't put my finger on what gives me gay vibes. Maybe it's just that he seems so uncomfortable with his wife. Or he has this kind of weird... like almost sadness about him. As if he's never quite himself. I really don't know I just know there have been a few moments when I have wondered and in the past when I have thought that about celebs almost noone else thought were gay I was right heh. But then maybe it's just cause I fancy him and every single man I ever was attracted to was either bi or gay (though not particularly effeminate). Cause I'm very great at picking them for some reason lol.

But I kinda don't think he is cause I've never heard one other person think so and tbh they have enough gay male fans that if there was some real gay vibe off of him someone would have picked up on it more clearly than me.

Yeah, re: the stylist, I probably didn't word my post very well! I don't think they have a stylist "on staff" these days, I just meant when they were with Mercury/Island Def Jam, even a few years post-"TTA" while they were still on the roster, that it might be part of what's provided for their appearances, photoshoots, etc., so perhaps all the great past photos/looks we love so much isn't Tay's style coming through, it's all been done for him. So it explains the contrast to now, when some of what he's wearing isn't very charming or coordinated.

I know what you mean about Zac, there's this melancholy streak. I wrote about it a bit before in a comment, I think here or over at 0htheirony's LJ (and darned if I can find it now), but part of me thinks he's a bit resentful that he didn't really "choose" this career or life - he was the youngest member when he was recording "MON" at 11 and I always got the sense he could be a bit moody/bitter because nobody really "asked" him if that's what he wanted for the rest of his life, and what 11 year old knows, anyway? There's examples where he's flipping the bird to fans, retreating quickly to the tour bus while Ike and Tay meet the fans, etc. but he's also human, and everyone has their moods.

I think he's a lot more complex than some people would think - people would want to pigeon-hole him as the "jokester" or most down-to-earth guy in the group. But I have a lot of guy friends who are wonderful creative artists - musicians, visual artists, writers - and most of them have their moody or unhappy sides, as it's what the artist taps into.

Re: The uncomfortableness, did you see #4 in this, and some of the discussion in the thread? I've seen other photos/videos of their family where the body language seems to tell something (my favorite are the videos where Zac is playing with his son and Kate's looking on practically disapprovingly, can never understand that), but it can also be awkward being photographed, especially when you're a mom with your child and looking out for them, so who knows, really.

For me with Zac, I get the Zaylor vibe in part because I think of Tay being so special to Zac that it defies any gender boundaries he has or whatever. That when Tay walks up behind him, strokes his hair and says, "Are you doing okay, baby?", he'd totally melt, lol. It's not so much that Zac seeks out random dick but rather he thinks of what he has with Tay as being special and defying any words/labels. ;)

Haha you might be right about the stylist thing! The thing I find with Taylor is that he has a basic sense of what he looks good in... like his tight trousers OMG yes please! Actually, a lot of the time, every bit of his outfit looks good as a singular piece. His issue comes with trying to piece them together - coordinating styles and colours just does not seem to be his thing lol. But I think he has a nice instinct for what looks good on him just a manly blind eye for what actually goes together. Or else he is trying too hard not to look gay cause so many people whisper about it? I'm not sure.

As for Zac, I have to say I don't think he is resentful about the music. I think Zac honestly loves that part. He obviously loves being on stage. And his most animated moments seem to be when he is performing / talking about the music / generally doing music or band related stuff.

But, the creative personality thing is an opinion I have long held. I'm gonna take the liberty of applying my own example to this - I have always had a creative streak (though more towards writing than music), I used to make up stories and tell my mum before I could write... and I think, extremely creative people just have this sort of... disconnect from the world. I know I do - and I can imagine from the songs Zac write that he had that same creative personality. It's like you don't quite belong in the world or interact with it, but you are just an observer to everything. A lot of the time, this makes it very difficult for me to interact with and connect with other people. And I can imagine, if I was in a similar position of fame with people just expecting things from you, I would find that very difficult to deal with at times. I mean some days I'm fine interacting with people, but a lot of the time face to face interactions are just really difficult for me. Which is why I end up spending lots of time chatting with random people online. xD

I don't know a lot of things about Zac just makes me believe he has a really similar personality. He is the one that interacts most actively with fans online. And I have seen lots of videos of him being really sweet with fans and heard lots of people say he was really awesome to them. I think it just depends on how you approach him. I guess he maybe doesn't do fakeness, if he doesn't like you he doesn't like you.

I've never seen that cause I don't read hansonsecrets. But yes I thought of those things when I saw the picture. And the video of Zac playing I agree! I thought the same thing first time I saw it.

In the clips of Tay and Nat, they are very close (I seem to remember there being a clip of them kissing), but in this bit of Zac and Kate Zac seems to be leaning away from her. :S

I also think the fact that Kate was after Isaac first... it's very telltale that she was after a Hanson - I personally think it was more that she wanted to stay close to her bff than a fame thing or wanted a Hanson brother particularly. Which is why I think she is apparently the rudest to fans (though I have no personal experience but I rarely hear anyone defend her whereas Nat and Nikki are constantly defended so putting two and two together here and hoping I'm not making 5) - I don't think she is particularly interested in the fame. She also seems a little overbearing and yes disapproving.... like she wants to mold Zac into someone he isn't. Maybe I'm reading too much into it but really they seem nothing alike!

I wanted to say I think you nailed something there with your "creative personality" paragraph. Completely! And it's cool you shared your own example. I have aspects of that in my personality myself, and understand it when my friends around me of the same temperament have it too.

It also has to do with, I think, that many creative individuals have an introverted personality rather than being extroverts. (Not all - lots of examples of extroverts out there. But the introverts have to be at least 50% of the types! :) ) Perhaps it's that inward-looking, self-reflecting nature that makes them turn to things with the imagination that result in good creative output. I'm a writer (non-fiction) and musician, and my parents always told me even when I was small I would sort of sit on the "sidelines" at group storytime or sporting events for kids and drink it all in, observing, the wheels turning in my head. That "witness" to the world is something I've heard so many writers talk about as part of their personality traits - documenting what goes on, and seeing the cool nuances of the people, or places, or activities that happen while you do that.

And introverts, they say, tend to get exhausted or worn down in big groups - need quiet or alone time to recharge. An extrovert might love to go parties or go clubbing, because extroverts (in general) get fired up from interacting with a lot of people and big groups. BTW, there's some cool books on all this stuff, like "The Introvert Advantage", "Introvert Power: Why Your Inner Life Is Your Hidden Strength" and such, or something like "The Artist's Way" about applying creative power for those who haven't tapped into it. If you combine an introvert personality with someone really working on their "art", and needing some time to focus on, and incubate it - whether a writer, musician, painter, whatever - it can certainly translate into some "Get the hell away from me, everybody!" time. :) My artist friends are like that at different periods and everyone understands it and doesn't take it personality.

About Zac's personality, yeah. You know that earlier forum thread? See "reply 129" here, and maybe it's like that. It depends on your attitude on things and, as you say, how you approach him. Actually Zac may be balancing the extrovert/introvert thing really well (I always heard more people should try to develop both those sides of themselves, it makes for being really well-rounded - I agree!), that he's more reflective and contemplative than some would think, but he's got the stage persona thing goin' on too.

Yeah - Tay's individual clothes often work, but it's the putting them together. Mind you, a lot of guys fail in this department - they'll buy different things at different times that are great, but have no concept on how to combine them. So maybe Tay isn't that much different than Joe Average Straight Guy here, or maybe *cue conspiracy theory music* he's trying to act totally "un-gay" that he goes overboard and wears combinations that even regular straight guys would easily recognize as being pretty atrocious.

Yeah I kind of ended up babbling and forgetting to mention the introvert thing haha. I think the introvert personality is what makes me feel disconnected from the world. ^^

And I'll agree that big groups are really hard for me to take. I enjoy going out with just a small close group of friends or just one other person, but big parties has never been my thing. And I was also the kid watching from the sidelines! I remember sitting alone on breaks a lot of school, and I remember teachers worrying about it. But I also remember being perfectly happy just sitting around observing what went on around me. I was never left out, I didn't participate out of choice. It's annoying actually cause when I write I like to be completely alone but I always seem to have trouble in relationships with my partner taking it personally as if I don't want to spend time with them.

Zac definitely has a stage persona I think, or at least a pretty split personality haha. I remember in 98 Isaac made a comment somewhere about how they sometimes thought Zac was schizophrenic and I also remember Taylor commenting on how deep some of Zac's songs were to the point where he was like "wait, how old are you again?". It's funny really how Zac seems to have developed into the creative force in the band - not that Tay and Ike aren't great song writers and musicians but Zac seems to be on a different level entirely! His songs are often kind of unstructured somehow, like he's working more from instinct than following some rules as to how things should go. I really love it. :D

Penny and her hat is so cuuutteee. <3 I just noticed, in the clip where they are talking to Zac and Kate where Kate is holding Shep - Zac is turned towards her and open and smiley (though his adoring look seems reserved for his son?) but Kate seems to kind of be shying away from him? Weird. Oh well, maybe they had a fight that morning or something lol.

Oh my God don't even get me started at how men fail at putting stuff together! Haha, the trying not to be gay theory is so funny - I wish I could believe that's what he is but I think he might just be completely colourblind. :P

I'm having an okay day had to take a nap cause the heat gave me a migraine but now it's raining and cooling off so getting better! Hope your day is good too. :)

I think the Zaylor thing you said is so true. It's weird cause I always think whatever about the rest of Zaylor being true, it feels to me that there is a certain truth in it in that Zac kind of needs Taylor. Zac looks at his happiest when he has at least Taylor with him (though that could be the music thing) - and even when they were younger, I remember so many interviews and performances where Zac would say something / do a solo and then shoot Taylor this look almost as if he wanted approval. And all the whispering and the glancing that still goes on? Yeah, whatever it is they are so close. And their body language always speaks miles, they tend to have their bodies open to eachother / sit close / put their hands flat against eachothers bodies (this is one of the key signs of a lack of reservation about touching someone). I mean I'm really close with my sister but they are... something else.
